Leadership
Scouts plan, organize and execute troop meetings and campouts to learn and gain experience as leaders in their community and to be become good citizens. Troop 259 is a Boy-Led Troop. In June scouts map out all meetings and activities for 15 months and they meet on a monthly basis to fill in the details.
Typically 4-6 adults attend the Boy-Led campouts to provide transportation, give guidance and ensure health and safety.
Adventure
Scouts camp monthly as well as attend a week long summer camp focusing on merit badges, Trail to 1st Class rank requirements and fun. A troop favorite is Shooting Sports.
We also sponsor multiple high adventure treks each July. We rotate adventures between Florida Sea Base, Northern Tier and Philmont for scouts 14+. In addition, Troop sponsors a crew of 13 years olds every July to attend adventures at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
Service
Troop 259 scouts provide almost 1000 hours of community service each year. In addition to 4-6 Eagle Scout projects, scouts assist with food collections, tree plantings and supporting fundraising activities for other non-profit organizations. It’s all part of developing character and being a good citizen.
Friendship
A scout is friendly. Troop 259’s membership includes boys from many different schools throughout Plano, Frisco and other North Texas cities giving our scouts an opportunity to develop new friends and meet boys from different backgrounds.
